On February 26, Shen Yueyue, President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), met Bai Jingying, Xiang Zhonghong and Chen Wanghui, three women role models who had been honored the day before at a grand gathering held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to mark the nation's poverty alleviation accomplishments and honor model poverty fighters.
Shen said that the huge achievement of China's anti-poverty fight is a proof of the great strength of the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and the Chinese people, and has inspired the Chinese people to continue endeavoring for the realization of their dreams.
Shen spoke highly of the women role models. She also noted that women have witnessed, contributed to and benefited from the country's poverty relief drive. They have made strenuous efforts in achieving decisive success in eradicating extreme poverty and have played a major role in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
"I am proud of my participation in the anti-poverty fight. I will continue guiding women to develop the embroidery industry and contribute to the rural revitalization of pasture areas," Bai Jingying, Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Horqin Right Wing Middle Banner, in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and head of a Mongolian-embroidery promotion team, said excitedly.
"I was very excited to receive the medal from General Secretary Xi Jinping and listen to the important speech delivered by him at the grand gathering," said Xiang Zhonghong, secretary of the Party committee of Xiadang Township, Shouning County, Southeast China's Fujian Province. "I will carry forward the spirit of the struggle to consolidate the accomplishments of poverty reduction and make more contributions towards promoting rural revitalization."
Chen Wanghui, a woman entrepreneur in a poverty-stricken village in Xiaojin County, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, said that she will continue to guide women villagers to develop the local rose planting industry and to live happy lives.
Representatives of women role models called on women around the country to promote economic development, to practice good family traditions, social etiquette and civility in rural areas, and to contribute to achieving the Second Centenary Goal of fully building a modern socialist country.
Shen said she hopes that the women role models will take the lead in studying and implementing the spirit of the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping, carry forward the great spirit of poverty alleviation, contribute to consolidating poverty alleviation achievements and promoting rural vitalization, and encourage more women to make achievements in the new era and strive for a better life.
Shen also urged women's federations at all levels to make contributions to the 14th Five-Year Plan period and welcome the Party's centenary with outstanding achievements.
Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, members of the Leading Party Members' Group and members of the Secretariat of the ACWF, as well as part-time vice-presidents of the ACWF, also attended the meeting.
